widowtravelstheworld: San Diego, CA, United States; I interviewed many widows in the months immediately after my husband of 39 years died, which was in August 2010. Some had never recovered and seemed to be waiting to join their deceased partners. Others were able to put their lives back together and use whatever time left to them wisely. One remarkable woman (yes, that's you, Marjorie) had buried three husbands. I decided to not just wait around to die. If I was going to do that, then there is no point to delaying the issue. But deciding to live life fully, with what remains, takes risk and courage. It has not been an easy path. The way is unclear and scary. It is my hope that I can shine a light onto another woman's path,as other women have done for me, illuminating a way forward. Many people are having to remake themselves. They are in circumstances they never imagined to find themselves. So, my story is just one of many of my generation, both female and male. But it is the widows that I know best.
